The extensive history of the founders stems from a world of high street boutiques, service and one on one customer interactions. The idea of creating a destination focussed solely on the ‘dining space’ is something that both founders cherish.
The conversation of the dinnerware brand began with a simple phone call between the founders as one founder was preparing the nightly meal and enthused at the frustration of not being able to find the visually stunning plates and bowls in restaurants and cafes.
The Black Crate name was developed from the idea of high end quality yet accessible dinnerware that is showcased in a fashionable environment. The statement packaging was the core that would etch into the memories of customers, cementing the fact that they have had an experience at Black Crate. Each dinner set is packaged in a fully custom made wooden crate that is complimentary and is also functional and a great visual piece in any home.
